Marine Gearbox Research Institute

We specialize in the integrated design and development of main propulsion gearboxes, auxiliary machinery transmission gearboxes, and matching transmission components—including marine couplings and support bearing assemblies—for various types of vessels powered by diesel engines, electricity, LNG, methanol, and more.

Leading Major: The development and design of marine gearboxes have been certified by Chinese and international ship classification societies, with products perfectly matched to main engines in inland, coastal, and ocean-going vessels—including those used in fisheries, transportation, tourism, and engineering applications.

Technical advantages: We possess the capability to design and develop marine gearboxes ranging from 10 to 50,000 kW, along with core technologies such as hard-toothed gear design, wet clutches, flexible couplings, and sliding bearing manufacturing, as well as advanced system vibration analysis—technologies that place our products at an internationally leading level. Additionally, we have spearheaded the development of several key product standards, including JB/T 9746.1 "Marine Gearboxes—Part 1: Technical Specifications," JB/T 13053 "Marine Bevel Gearboxes for Tilt-Transmission Applications," and JB/T 13054 "Marine Dual-Engine Parallel-Drive Gearboxes." Furthermore, our project titled "Key Technologies and Industrialization of High-End Heavy-Duty Gear Transmission Systems" was honored with the Second Prize of the 2014 National Science and Technology Progress Award.
