Hangzhou Powder Metallurgy Research Institute

The Hangzhou Powder Metallurgy Research Institute was established in 1965 as a second-class research institute under the Ministry of Machinery. Today, it is affiliated with the Hangzhou Gear Group and stands as one of China's earliest specialized institutions dedicated to the research and development of friction materials and advanced friction-reducing composite products. Leveraging cutting-edge platforms such as a national-level technology center and a postdoctoral workstation, the institute has spearheaded the development of multiple national standards and successfully completed over 300 national and provincial-level scientific research projects. As a result, it has earned prestigious accolades, including the National Science Conference Award and the Ministry of Machinery Industry Science and Technology Progress Award.
