On the morning of April 15, the Science and Technology Association of HAGG. jointly organized with the Xiaoshan District High-Tech Enterprise Association a lecture titled "Technological Innovation Drives Enterprise Development." All cadre members from both levels of HAGG, along with key technical personnel, gathered at the Wangyue Hall in the Lantian Hotel to listen to Li Dakai, a National Model Worker and Outstanding Entrepreneur in China's Machinery Industry, who formerly served as Chairman of Shaanxi Fast Gear Co., Ltd. Li delivered an inspiring speech entitled "Innovation is the Soul of Enterprise Development."

In 1995, Li Dakai stepped up to the challenge and took on the critical role of factory director at Shaanxi Automobile Gear General Factory (the predecessor of Fast Gear). Facing a dire situation marked by operating losses, declining markets, and four-and-a-half months of unpaid wages, he led the workforce in boldly pursuing deepened reforms, fostering innovative growth, forging ahead with determination, and working tirelessly to turn the company’s precarious circumstances around—ultimately propelling the enterprise into a phase of rapid, transformative development. For six consecutive years, the company consistently ranked first in China’s gear industry in key business metrics, while its heavy-duty transmission production and sales soared to the global top spot. Today, it stands as Shaanxi’s leading enterprise driving the revitalization of the province’s equipment manufacturing sector—and a major taxpayer as well.

At the meeting, Li Dakai shared the story and his insights on how he and his management team revived and strengthened the company since he became the General Manager of Shanxi Gear. He emphasized: "Innovation is the very foundation that enables a company to remain invincible in fierce market competition. Enterprises must not only innovate in technology, products, and R&D—but also prioritize innovation in areas such as market development and management, which are equally crucial. After all, in today's world, 'the only constant is change.' Early in his tenure as factory director of Shanxi Gear, Li was determined to initiate fundamental reforms. Each reform faced numerous criticisms and obstacles, yet he resolutely pushed forward, leading by example. Thanks to his unwavering commitment, the company not only completed these critical reforms swiftly and effectively but also rallied employees, boosting morale across the entire workforce. Over the past several decades, guided by the principle that managers must first set aside personal interests for the greater good of the enterprise, Li has diligently pursued his mission, steadily advancing initiatives that have fostered a corporate culture rooted in "unity, pragmatism, resilience, and pioneering spirit."

Afterward, he once again emphasized the importance of technological transformation. He said that in an era where products reign supreme, it’s crucial to think ahead and continuously develop follow-up offerings—mastering every step from "what’s already in your mouth" to "what’s being cooked in the pot," "what’s firmly in your hands," and even "what’s still lingering in your mind." Only then can a company maintain its position as a market leader.

The lecture was chaired by Feng Guang, Chairman of HAGG and also the President of the High-Tech Enterprise Association. He noted that this lecture was profoundly insightful, rich in content, and offered a remarkably broad perspective. Feng emphasized that innovation is the primary driving force behind development, and only by strengthening enterprises' independent innovation capabilities and securing a leading position in scientific and technological advancements can companies gain the initiative and influence in their respective fields.
