On February 10, 2014, the company held its 2014 Work Conference and the 4th Session of the 13th Employee Congress. This was the first time the company utilized videoconferencing software technology, setting up a main venue along with four sub-venues and enabling simultaneous audiovisual transmission. During the meeting, the company conducted a comprehensive review and summary of its 2013 operations, analyzed the current business environment, and clearly outlined the goals and tasks for the coming year. At the conference, General Manager Feng Guang delivered the annual work report, while Li Chengwu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Xu Guiqin, Chairwoman of the Trade Union, presented the Party Committee’s and Trade Union’s respective work reports. Finally, Chairman and Party Secretary Mao Jianrong delivered an important keynote speech.
In 2013, the international economic environment remained complex and volatile. Against the backdrop of domestic macroeconomic austerity and the nation’s ongoing economic transformation, enterprises continued to face severe challenges. Yet, thanks to the concerted efforts of our dedicated cadres and employees, the company persevered through adversity, maintaining steady growth. By 2014, as market competition intensified further, enhancing product quality emerged as the fundamental strategy for securing a foothold in the marketplace. At the same time, the company recognized that boosting efficiency was essential to improving profitability and reducing operational costs. To this end, the company officially designated 2014 as the "first year" of its two-year "Quality & Efficiency Action Plan"—the inaugural year of the "Quality & Efficiency Year." Throughout the year, the company will focus relentlessly on "elevating quality and optimizing efficiency," while fostering open thinking, embracing innovation, staying proactive, taking bold responsibility, strengthening technological innovation, refining manufacturing capabilities, expanding into new product markets, refining contract management mechanisms, and strategically adjusting its investment portfolio. These measures are all aimed at bolstering the company’s competitive edge and ensuring sustainable, robust development.
General Manager Feng Guang, in his work report titled "Striving to Enhance Quality, Boost Efficiency, and Foster Stable Corporate Growth," provided a comprehensive review of the company's achievements in 2013 and outlined key objectives for 2014: First, make every effort to expand into new market segments, exploring untapped opportunities across diverse sectors such as marine equipment, complete sets of machinery, construction machinery, wind power, automotive products, and import-export operations. Second, elevate product quality by launching company-wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, thereby strengthening brand recognition and market acceptance for the ADVANCE brand. Third, streamline operational efficiency by driving a holistic enhancement of workforce productivity, promoting lean manufacturing practices and ERP management systems, while prioritizing technological upgrades, equipment maintenance, talent development in process engineering, and ensuring robust safety and environmental compliance. Fourth, accelerate product innovation and process research to bolster the company's competitive edge. Fifth, champion contract-based innovation, fostering professional excellence and effectively implementing cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancement strategies. Finally, strengthen investment analysis and decision-making processes, optimize the structure of external investments, and enhance overall investment profitability.
Vice General Manager Li Chengwu delivered a work report titled "Unify Thinking, Focus Efforts, and Strive Vigorously for the Stable and Healthy Development of the Enterprise." The report comprehensively summarized the Party Committee's work in 2013 and outlined key priorities for the Party Committee's initiatives in 2014. It emphasized the need to earnestly implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee, closely aligning efforts with the company's core business operations. The report also highlighted the importance of fully leveraging the roles of the two-level Party organizations, fostering open-minded thinking, building consensus, rallying collective strength, embracing innovation, and driving reform—ultimately providing robust ideological and political support to ensure the successful achievement of Hangchi's 2014 production and operational goals.
Chairwoman Xu Guiqin reviewed the company’s union activities in 2013 during her work report, while emphasizing that in 2014, the union’s efforts should be guided by the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 16th National Congress of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. She also highlighted the importance of thoroughly implementing the mass line policy, strengthening the union’s internal capacity-building, and leveraging the role of employees as the enterprise’s core workforce to drive improvements in quality and efficiency. By fostering unity, confidence, and shared determination, the union will stand firmly alongside the company to overcome challenges together, ultimately contributing to the organization’s harmonious and stable growth.
Finally, in his speech, Chairman Mao Jianrong first acknowledged Hangzhou Gear’s achievements in 2013, while also analyzing the company’s current challenging situation and identifying its existing shortcomings. He then outlined four key requirements for the company’s work in 2014: First, clearly understand the current landscape and honestly face up to your weaknesses; second, break free from conventional thinking and embrace innovation and reform; third, comprehensively and thoroughly carry out the “Quality and Efficiency Year” campaign; and fourth, practice thrift and integrity, firmly opposing corruption. At the same time, he urged everyone across the company to stay confident, tackle difficulties head-on, and approach 2014 with a strong sense of responsibility and mission. Together, let’s dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to all our tasks this year, striving tirelessly to successfully achieve our goals and drive Hangzhou Gear toward innovative development and growth.
The meeting also recognized various outstanding achievements of the company for 2013, including the "Dual Civilization Units," "Dual Civilization Pioneers," "Top Ten Young Skilled Professionals," and "Benchmark Team Memberships."
