Recently, the Oriental Pearl "Shanghai Star" cruise ship, equipped with Hangchi marine gearboxes, has officially entered the equipment-commissioning phase and is soon set to begin full-scale operations. The "Shanghai Star" is a next-generation Huangpu River cruise vessel that seamlessly combines high-end business hospitality, lavish banquets, and leisurely sightseeing experiences.
The cruise ship's main propulsion system features a twin-engine, twin-propeller configuration, equipped with ADVANCE-brand marine hybrid gearboxes. By integrating PTI and PTH modules, the system achieves both hybrid (diesel engine + electric motor) dual-input operation and independent-drive modes, seamlessly accommodating all three operational conditions—forward, neutral, and reverse—while perfectly meeting the vessel design's target for maximum cruising speed.
