Highly challenging to design, requiring advanced technology, and boasting broad application prospects.
Recently, two HCA1400 lightweight bevel marine gearboxes—developed and produced independently by Hangzhou Gear—have been delivered to customers for use, marking a significant leap forward for Hangzhou Gear in advancing both the theoretical research and practical application of aluminum-cast gearbox housings and bevel transmission technology.
The HCA1400 gearbox is not only a significant achievement for Hangzhou Gear, but also currently the largest lightweight, tilting-angle marine gearbox independently developed in mainland China. Made from aluminum alloy, this product features a complex box structure and poses considerable design challenges. To overcome these challenges, the engineering team boldly innovated across multiple technical hurdles. Thanks to the close collaboration between Hangzhou Gear’s design and production departments, the machining process for the aluminum housing proceeded smoothly. Once completed, the final product largely met the original design specifications, and the gearbox assembly perfectly aligned with the detailed blueprints. Test results confirm that both the design and manufacturing of the gearbox have reached an exceptional level, with all key technical indicators performing exceptionally well.
The birth of the HCA1400 gearbox marks a groundbreaking advancement for Hangzhou Gear in critical technologies such as high-speed bevel gear design and manufacturing, as well as the integrated assembly of cast-aluminum housing units. This milestone signifies that Hangzhou Gear has achieved mature application of its expertise in the design, production, and machining of large-scale, cast-aluminum, angled-drive marine gearboxes. Moving forward, Hangzhou Gear will truly be positioned to capture a significant share of the high-end market from leading international gearbox manufacturers.
It is reported that, after mass production, the HCA1400 gearbox will be fitted to high-speed vessels such as large and medium-sized passenger ships and law enforcement official boats, with an optimistic outlook for the market.
