Bigger, stronger, and more environmentally friendly

Another high-power new product from the "ADVANCE" brand is set to venture into the deep sea.

Recently, the "HC869 Stern Slipway Trawler," built by Shandong Huanghai Shipyard, successfully completed mooring trials and performance tests, with excellent verification results. This means that the newly developed HCT2000 marine gearbox and 4LZF1100 clutch-splitting gearbox—both branded "ADVANCE" from Hangchi and boasting comprehensive technical specifications that meet international advanced standards—will soon set sail aboard the fishing vessel, boldly navigating the deep seas.

To meet the demands of deep-sea and high-seas fishing operations, global distant-water fishing vessels are evolving toward larger, more powerful, and environmentally friendly designs. Consequently, equipping ships with larger, eco-friendly propulsion systems has become an inevitable trend. Domestically, the power range of shipbuilding equipment has already expanded—from 800 kW two years ago to over 1,500 kW today.

Over the past five years, Hangzhou Gear’s “ADVANCE” series has successively developed the HCT1100, HCT1200, and HCT1400 marine gearboxes, meeting the growing market demand for large trawlers. These product lines are specifically designed for fishing vessels with maximum power outputs below 1000 kW. The newly designed and developed HCT2000 marine gearbox is tailored to accommodate even higher-power main engines. Its innovative design adheres to the latest CCS standards and incorporates advanced technologies such as remote monitoring and intelligent fault-warning systems. This not only enhances the standardization and versatility of its components but also significantly boosts the reliability of offshore fishing operations. Featuring a two-stage reduction system, the HCT2000 gearbox boasts technical specifications that closely rival those of Germany’s ZF WAF1173 model—yet it offers an even broader range of speed ratios and more comprehensive functionality. As a result, its overall performance metrics have reached internationally advanced levels.

The 4LZF1100 clutch-transfer case application represents a major test of new technology and innovative concepts in product development. Notably, the dual-speed clutch-driven generator technology—used here for the first time on fishing vessels—not only meets the specific demands of ship navigation and operational conditions but also boosts fuel efficiency in onboard power generation by up to 15%, helping achieve significant energy-saving and emission-reduction goals. Moving forward, Hangzhou Gear will closely monitor real-vessel trials and usage performance, gathering practical insights that will pave the way for wider adoption and promotion of this technology across various vessel types. As a result, the product holds tremendous potential for future applications.
